Better Rain Chances - 08/24/13

Saturday, August 24th, 2013

No shocker here- we hit 100 again Saturday! It was our 33rd triple digit high for the year...closing in on last year's total of 35.  A few areas saw showers Saturday afternoon, but more of us will get a chance Sunday and Monday.  The tropical wave we've been tracking through the Gulf the last few days is still slowly inching westward, and another tropical wave near the Yucatan is also working to the west.  We'll see these areas of low pressure reach the Texas Coast Sunday and Monday and as they edge inland, our rain chances will increase.

Sunday: 30% Chance Austin area, 50% Chance Fayette County
Monday: 30% Chance Austin area, 40% Chance Hays & Caldwell Counties, 50% Chance Fayette County
Tuesday: 20% Chance

Rain totals in any downpours could be locally heavy, but most areas will get less than 1/2" of rain.  Our moisture fetch off the Gulf gets cut-off later this week, which will bring us dry and hotter weather with another string of triple digits on the way.  Until then, I'm keeping highs in the 90s Sunday through Tuesday.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
