Searching for the off switch yet? - 08/01/13
Searching for the off switch yet? If so, I haven't found it. We hit triple digits for the 17th time this year and the next 7 days we'll continue adding to that count. A ridge of high pressure is going nowhere anytime soon, so we're stuck in a pattern of hot days, warm nights and sunny skies. Rain chances look slim to none for the next week or more.
The latest Drought Monitor shows some improvement in Eastern Williamson County as well as Milam County where last week's rains helped out. But with nothing but hot and dry weather in the forecast, any improvement will likely be fleeting.
IN THE TROPICS
The remnants of Dorian are east of Florida and have a 20% chance of redeveloping in the Atlantic. In the Pacific, Hurricane Gil continues pushing westward in the open waters.
