An Austin institution of giving to our community has reached the quarter of a century mark.
Sat. Nov. 30 is the 25th Chuy's Children Giving to Children Parade.
The parade begins at 11 a.m. at 11th and Congress Avenue. It moves south along Congress Avenue toward the bridge.
This year's parade will feature more than 110 entries, including four giant inflatable balloons: Angry Birds, a Snowman, the Coke Polar Bear and Curious George. You'll also see live music, children's characters, marching bands, giant balloons and local community groups.
Join in the fun and help our community at the same time. Bring new, unwrapped toys. When the parade stops, everyone can come forward and donate.
The parade collects toys for the Austin Police Department's Operation Blue Santa program. It will serve more than 15,000 Austin children. Gifts will be delivered to kids, along with a meal for their whole family, on Dec. 14. (Donate to Operation Blue Santa now.)
Watch the parade live at 11 a.m. on KEYE TV.
The Chuy's Children Giving to Children Parade is sponsored by Chuy's, Parkway Construction & Associates, Dykes Restaurant Supply, Labatt Food Service, Coca Cola, Martin Preferred Foods, KLBJ 590 AM and 99.7 FM, KGSR 93.3, BOB FM 103.5 and La Z 107.1.
