A man has been charged with a misdemeanor after firefighters say his match caused an apartment fire that damaged 10 units in South Austin Wednesday night.
Austin fire investigators say Gary King’s match started the
two-alarm blaze at the Oak Run Apartments near Banister Lane and Highway 71.
The fire caused over $400,000 in property damage and displaced 16 people. King faces a $500 fine.
AFD spokesperson Michelle DeCrane said that they determined King was throwing lit matches around his apartment.
