Bettie's Box Office: Edge Of Tomorrow

Updated: Friday, June 6 2014, 02:51 PM CDT

Tom Cruise is back and at his sci-fi best in the new movie, Edge of Tomorrow. The film opens in theaters on Friday and it's a smarter, funnier summer blockbuster.

Live, die, repeat! Again, and again, and again. In the film, Edge of Tomorrow, Cruise is thrown into a never-ending loop. Think of it as the Ground Hog Day movie set in a war zone.

Cruise starts out as a cowardly recruit who can't stand the sight of blood, not even a paper cut. He ends up saving the world from an alien invasion. At times the dots are hard to connect, but somehow it all works.

Cruise plays the part to perfection. And super soldier, Emily Blunt has biceps that might be bigger than her co-star's.

Great casting, chemistry and direction, as well as some good laughs, make this worth a full price ticket. One note- there's a good chance you'll either be confused by the ending or just not like it, but don't let that keep you from seeing Edge of Tomorrow.
