Bettie's Box Office: Premium Rush

Updated: Friday, August 24 2012, 06:28 PM CDT

"Brakes are death." That's the mantra of Wilee, a bicycle messenger and the central character of the film, Premium Rush. If you've seen the previews, then you basically know what to expect: a non-stop, feature-length chase scene on two wheels instead of four. But the dangers in NY City traffic - both real and imagined - make it a wild ride. Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is carrying a package that a crooked cop is determined to intercept. The plot is a little thin, but then again, you knew what to expect.

The movie gives you a glimpse inside the messengers' crazed life and the intense bike-level camera angles dodging between cars, cabs and pedestrians make the chase scenes feel fresh and exciting. It's a satisfying, end-of-summer movie. Premium Rush is rated PG-13 and opens August 24.
