Inspired by the virtuosic movement of symphonic conducting, Forklift Danceworks will spotlight Austin Symphony Orchestra conductor Peter Bay in the new work Solo Symphony.

Featuring original choreography by Allison Orr, the work debuts July 12 through 14 in Rollins Studio Theatre at The Long Center.

Performing with 13 live musicians and featuring original music by Graham Reynolds, Orr said Solo Symphony will "at times feature Bay conducting in a true to life way, while at other times show Bay performing more abstracted movements based on his conducting gestures."  Orr said she created the work to show Bay's highly skilled and unique conducting style, his passion and deep love for music, and the artistry and grace with which he performs his job.

Performances will run Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m., with an added Saturday matinee at 3 p.m.  Tickets are $25 for general admission and $35 for prime seat, with a VIP tickets available for the opening and closing performances - featuring prime seats and a post-show dessert reception with Peter Bay, Allison Orr and Graham Reynolds - for $50.

Rollins Studio Theatre is located at The Long Center at 701 W. Riverside Drive, at the corner of Riverside and South 1st.  For tickets and more information, call (512) 474-LONG (5664) or visit TheLongCenter.org.
