Getting Around Austin During SXSW
Updated: Friday, March 8 2013, 10:53 AM CST
Coming from ABIA?
-- Take the CapMetro AirportFlyer bus with service to and from the airport to downtown every 15 minutes for only $1. capmetro.org/sxsw2013/ This runs all year btw, just more frequently during SXSW.
-- There’s also the airport’s Super Shuttle and you can find more info about that here: supershuttle.com/Locations/AUSAirportShuttleAustin.aspx
Take a CapMetro Bus or the MetroRail
--All downtown bus service, except for MetroAirport, will be accessible on Guadalupe and Lavaca, at 8 key bus stops. (Look for neon "open stop" banners at bus stops) http://www.capmetro.org/sxsw2013/
Ride your bike
-- Based on Twitter feedback and complaints about Austin traffic, the least frustrated people were on a bike. Here’s a great resource on how to get your hands one a bike during SXSW http://ht.ly/iol2w and here’s another biking website that may help. biketexas.org/advocacy/sxsw-bike-rental-fundraiser
--Walking is also a great option and no matter what form of transportation you choose to take, comfortable shoes are highly recommended.
Take a cab, pedicab or Car2Go
--We have several cab companies in Austin, so plug them in your phone because it’s a No Refusal Weekend. Yellow Cab is 512-452-9999, Lone Star Cab is 512-836-4900 and Austin Cab Co is 512-478-2222
-- You’ll find Pedicabs all over downtown Austin. If you just need a ride around downtown it should cost about $5 a person.
--You do have to be a member to use Car2Go, so give them a call for membership info 877-488-4224 or check out their Facebook page. facebook.com/car2go.austin
Attending SXSW
--There are shuttles to help you get around. http://ht.ly/iol2w
