Gilbert & Sullivan Mother’s Day Musicale

Updated: Thursday, May 10 2012, 03:58 AM CDT
The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Austin will host a special Mother’s Day Musicale on May 13 at 3 p.m., with performances of selections from this summer’s Grand Production of Patience.   Also featuring a sampling of Gilbert and Sullivan classics, the concert will provide the first chance for audiences to experience the new Brentwood Christian School Performing Arts Center.

Patience cast members will be introduced to the audience and perform some of their songs from Patience, which runs June 7 through 17 at the new North Lamar performance venue.  Oscar Wilde and Elisabet Ney will serve as "special guests from the great beyond" for the free concert performance, and every mother will receive a rose.

The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Austin was founded in 1976 with the purpose of preserving and presenting the works of Gilbert and Sullivan.  Known for its critically-acclaimed annual Grand Productions from the Gilbert and Sullivan repertoire, the Society is also dedicated to spreading and teaching the music of Gilbert and Sullivan through school and community presentations.

The Brentwood Christian School Performing Arts Center is located at 11908 N. Lamar.  For more information, visit www.GilbertSullivan.org.
