Hyde Park Theatre will stage the dark and quirky new comedy Tigers Be Still, the angst-ridden comedic take on all the tigers, real and metaphorical, that prowl through modern life.  Written by Kim Rosenstock and directed by Ken Webster, the Austin premiere runs July 12 through August 11.

An unemployed and overwhelmed young woman’s life seems to be brightening up when she’s hired as a substitute art teacher and art therapist.  Now if only her mother would leave her room, her depressed sister would get off the couch, her new boss would leave his gun at home, and someone would catch that tiger that escaped from the local zoo - well then, everything would be just perfect.

The production features Jon Cook, Jay Michael Fraley, Jessica Hughes, Molly Karrasch and Kelsey Kling.  As part of a year-long celebration of two HPT 30 year anniversaries - 2012 is both the 30 year anniversary of the venue as a theater and Artistic Director Ken Webster’s 30 year anniversary as an Austin director - the Friday, July 13, performance will be followed by a party. Audience members are invited to stay for food and drink catered by neighborhood businesses.

Performances will run Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets on Friday and Saturday are $19 and $17 for students, seniors, military and members of Austin Creative Alliance. Thursday performances are Pay-What-You-Can admission.  Tickets for the final weekend are $21 and $19.

The Hyde Park Theatre is located at 511 W. 43rd.  For ticket and more information, call (512) 479-PLAY (7529) or visit www.HydeParkTheatre.org.
