The Institution Theater stages a revival of MANSON: The Musical! - the brainchild of Institution Theater Artistic Director, Tom Booker, and former “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Musical Director, Laura Hall.  Performances run weekends through May 27.

Originally created in 1990, Booker and Hall created MANSON: The Musical! when they worked together at Chicago’s Annoyance Theatre.  A long-running cult hit in Chicago, the dark musical comedy follows an aspiring musician named Charles Manson - with an affinity for hallucinogenic drugs, group sex and random violence - as his cult of misfits prepare for "Helter Skelter," a prophesied war among the races in the U.S., with guest appearances by The Beatles, Sharon Tate and The Beach Boys.

The Institution Theater revival will be directed by Tom Booker with musical direction by Esther’s Follies Musical Director, Doug Ewart and choreography by Carissa McAtee.   The score features original songs written by Hall - including “Charlie, Chuck or Just Plain Charles”, “Me, Sharon Tate” and the torchsong, “I Have No Regrets,” sung by Charlie Manson himself.

Performances run Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $6 - or $5 if you have an “X” on your forehead.  Plus, every paying member of the audience will receive a complimentary hit of “acid.”

The Institution Theater is located at 3708 Woodbury Drive.  For more information and reservations, call (512) 895-9580 or visit TheInstitutionTheater.com.
