The historic Palace Theatre in Georgetown will rock and roll this summer with Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story, playing a five-weekend run from May 11 through June 10.

Written by Alan Janes, the Broadway musical chronicles the man who changed the face of popular music before he died tragically in a plane crash on February 3, 1959, at the age of 22.

Directed by Palace Theatre Artistic Director Mary Ellen Butler, the production features more than 20 of Buddy Holly's greatest hits played and sung live on stage - including "Peggy Sue," "That’ll Be The Day," "Oh Boy," "Not Fade Away," "Everyday," "Rave On," "Maybe Baby" and "Raining In My Heart."  The production also features musical portrayals of The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens and more in a story of the three years in which Holly became the world’s top recording artist.

Performances run Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $24 for general admission, $22 for seniors (55 ), $14 for students (13-22) and active military, and $10 for children (12 and younger).

The Palace Theatre is located at 810 South Austin Avenue in downtown Georgetown just off the town square.  For tickets and more information, call (512) 869-7469 or (512) 869-5081 or visit www.TheGeorgetownPalace.org.
