Are you ready for the thrill ride of the summer? Instead of spending your hard earned cash at Six Flags, go see Inception instead. You will feel like you just got off a roller coaster after watching this. Written and directed by Christopher Nolan who gave us the new Batman franchise, Inception is just as dynamic, yet sticks closer to his Memento roots. Since this drama is about dreams, I felt like I had sat down to watch the second part of "Shutter Island". Except this time, DiCaprio is not crazy, but he does have some dark secrets.

In this sci-fi thiller, Dom Cobb (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) works in the corporate espionage field who is able to steal information from a person's mind when they are asleep (within their subconscious while dreaming). This time, Cobb and his team of specialists are hired by Ken Watanabe to plant an idea in a competitor's head that will take root in real life. This process is called inception. His colleagues include Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Eames (Tom Hardy) and an architect, Ariadne (Ellen Page), they bring in to help develop the dreams' designs. Since Ariadne is brought in, she gets the task of explaining what's going on to the audience. As the team enters the dreams, they are supervised by one individual and their state is controlled by sedatives. When they are in the dream state, they see each other and if any of them are killed, they just wake up. That is until they fall into a deeper stage of sleep. Once they into the dream sequence, they have to go into other stages within their dreaming so there becomes 4 different dreams going on in this story.
but he does have some dark secrets.

This is the third movie that Leonardo DiCaprio has done where he has a dead wife that haunts his every thought. I'm not giving anything away because you find this out in the beginning, but this is another reason it feels like Shutter Island. Even the opening beach scene gave me that vibe. However, this is a very different movie and a smarter one for that matter. Due to the many dream sequences, the story is intricately involved. I don't think dreams could work like this, but hey, this is fiction and is exciting the whole way through.
