The City Theatre Creates Mayhem with Classic Comedy She Stoops to Conquer

Romantic tomfoolery and mistaken identities abound when the City Theatre stages Oliver Goldsmith’s great classic comedy She Stoops to Conquer.  Performances run July 26th through August 12th.

When shy-with-the ladies Charles Marlow sets off to the country to meet his blind date, a practical joke convinces him that the manor of his destination is actually a luxury inn.  Treating one’s prospective in-laws as hired help is hardly advisable, but when it appears that Charles is quite a charmer, misdemeanors multiply, mayhem ensues and love blossoms.  The bawdy romp brims with chaos, courtship and a dysfunctional family.

Performances will run Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 5:30 p.m.  Tickets are $15 for general seating, $25 for guaranteed front or second row reserved seating, and $12 for students.  All seats for the Thursday performances are $10.

The City Theatre is located at 3823 Airport Blvd., on the east corner of Airport Blvd. and 38 ½ Street.  For more information and reservations, call (512) 524-2870 or visit
