A cross-dressing, often homeless man, who became an Austin icon, has died

The sometimes mayoral candidate would cruise around Austin in thongs and tiaras.  Although he could also play the part of cardboard sign carrying politician.

Leslie Cochran died at Christopher House, an inpatient hospice. He personified Austin's eclectic, embrace the different, style.

You might have seen him parading around 6th Street, Congress Avenue or South Austin dressed in little more than a thong.

But, Leslie was much more than an Austin oddity.
