Academy Award Winner, Author and Holocaust Survivor Gerda Weissmann Klein stopped by Austin Live.

Klein is in Austin for two events, both very near and dear to her heart.

She will be part of a talk and discussion that will focus on the wealth of life experiences that have led to her life's cause of promoting tolerance, encouraging community service and combating hunger.

Klein's personal story is both inspiring and awe-inducing. A Holocaust survivor, she met her future husband on the day of her liberation. Her account of her experience as a Holocaust survivor is documented in her classic autobiography, All But My Life. This book was the foundation for the Oscar and Emmy-winning HBO documentary One Survivor Remembers, which won an Academy Award and an Emmy Award.

Klein, a 2011 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, has captivated audiences worldwide with her powerful message of hope, inspiration and humanity for over six decades.

Lanier High School

Naturalization ceremony conducted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), with the help of Citizenship Counts. Students at Lanier High School recently completed Citizenship Counts' interactive, multi-disciplinary civics curriculum that provides an opportunity to participate in the democratic process while building a better understanding of the value and responsibilities of citizenship.Author Gerda Weissmann Klein On Austin Live
