Lena Dunham To Keynote SXSW Film Today

Lena Dunham, star of the HBO series, Girls, is today's keynote speaker for SXSW Film. Dunham will speak from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Vimeo Theater in the Austin Convention Center.
Dunham not only created the series, but also serves as executive producer, writer, and director. She is a two-time Golden Globe winner who made history as the first female director to win a DGA Award for “Television Comedy Series.”
Additionally, for Girls, she received seven Emmy® nominations, was honored by AFI as one of the best "TV Programs of the Year," and won a WGA Award for "Best New Series." In 2010, her feature Tiny Furniture world premiered at SXSW, winning the Jury Award, and ultimately earning her an Independent Spirit Award for “Best First Screenplay.”

Tuesday, Casey Neistat, a New York-based filmmaker will serve as the keynote for SXSW film. He is the writer, director, editor and star of the series The Neistat Brothers on HBO and won the John Cassavetes Award at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards for producing the film Daddy Long Legs.
