Crooks Stealing Your Car And Credit Cards

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 05:08 PM CDT

From north Austin down south.  Criminals are creeping through your neighborhood looking for a package deal.

"I've seen the broken glass out here," said Daryl Blanford.

That broken glass belonged to a car that's now long gone.

"When you've got a bunch of stuff in your car it's kind of funny.  When people break in they don't find the good stuff," added Blanford.

Which is why the crooks are taking the car along for the ride.

Since the start of the year Austin police say there have been 1370 auto thefts.

There have also been 705 credit cards thefts this year.  Earlier this week, cops arrested Carl Ards after an officer claimed he found three stolen credit cards hidden in the floor board of Ards' car.

It's a reminder to take your prized possessions with you.

"This is a thing that has been going on for a long time," added Blanford.
