Hit and Run Suspect Sought

Updated: Wednesday, January 15 2014, 06:06 PM CST

Austin police are looking for a pickup truck driver who hit a pedestrian in Downtown Austin on New Year's Day.

A group of people were crossing northbound in the crosswalk at 7th Street and the I-35 west frontage road when a light-colored truck hit one of them.

Police say the passenger in the truck got out to check on the female pedestrian. The driver stayed in the vehicle. The passenger got back into the truck and it took off.

The victim was taking to University Medical Center at Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect vehicle is possibly a silver or light-colored, newer model Toyota Tacoma with four doors.

If you witnessed the incident, or have any information that could help police find the driver, call the APD Leaving the Scene Unit at 512-974-6935.
