Person Of Interest Questioned In 6th Street Murder
Updated: Monday, September 17 2012, 09:47 PM CDT
Police say they've identified a person of interest in an attack that killed a man earlier this month in the Downtown Austin Sixth Street Entertainment District.
The attack happened on Mon, Sept. 3, at around 12:45 a.m. at 6th and Neches Street. Police say 35-year-old Matthew Casey (pictured left) was found collapsed on the street by officers after being flagged down by a witness.
Investigators believe Casey had been involved in a verbal altercation with two people and fell to the ground after being punched, striking his head against the pavement.
Casey was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries where he died a week later. His death was ruled a homicide.
Detectives now say one of the suspects, a man seen in surveillance video released last week to the media, has been identified and interviewed, but no charges have yet been filed.
Detectives are still looking for another suspect, described as -
- White female
- Approx. mid-20s
- 5’6” to 5’8”
- Athletic build
