Taylor Shooting Injures 5; Man Arrested

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 04:08 PM CDT
Police say five people were injured in Taylor Monday night after a man fired a shotgun at them from a car.

Reyes Torres (pictured), 22, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony.

Taylor police say officers responded to a shots fired call at around 8 p.m. in the area of S. Robinson and 700 E. Second Street and found five adult victims hit by pellets and fragments fired from a shotgun.

Investigators say Reyes Torres fired at the victims after getting out of a white, 4-door vehicle. Torres fled in the vehicle after the shooting.

Taylor Police Captain Don Georgens says four of the victims were treated at the scene and one was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspected vehicle was stopped about an hour later in the 600 block of N. Main and two men -- Israel Galvan, 18, and Fernando Torres, 19 -- were taken into custody for outstanding warrants and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

Fernando Torres is also charged with aggravated assault and is currently in the Williamson County Jail.

Reyes Torres was taken into custody Monday night after officers setup surveillance at a garage he was known to frequent.

Taylor is about 35 miles northeast of Austin.
