Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 05:08 PM CDT

An 18-year-old man is fighting for his life after being shot in the head in Southeast Austin Thursday evening.

It happened at around 5:30 p.m. at 2410 E Riverside Dr., just west of South Pleasant Valley Road.

Crime scene investigators combed through the victim's car searching for clues.

Austin police say the victim was sitting in a silver BMW when another man approached the car and shot him.

"I just heard it and I went over there," said Anthony Guerrero.

Guerrero was one of the first people to reach the victim.

"I was walking outside and heard gun shots. I peeked over and saw the car," added Guerrero.

Guerrero saw blood spilling out of the driver's side door.

Austin police said the unidentified man was shot in the head and neck.

"I heard boom, boom and that was it," said Guerrero.

The suspect fled leaving the man in critical condition. He was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20-21 years old, skinny and bald. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt in a silver vehicle, possibly a Honda Civic or Acura.
