For richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad
These familiar words spoken at the alter not only describe marriage, but also all the times the average consumer may need a lawyer. In good times, we need lawyers to buy a home or start a business. In bad times, we need lawyers to handle financial problems, file for divorce, apply for workers compensation or handle contract disputes.
The best way to find a lawyer for a particular legal problem is as easy as a phone call -- by calling the Lawyer Referral Service, a long-time trusted source for information and referrals.
"Most people feel lost when it comes to finding the right lawyer, says Jeannie Rollo, executive director of the Lawyer Referral Service. Referrals from friends are plentiful for doctors or dentists, but because of the number and complexity of laws, referrals for a specific type of lawyer are more difficult.
The Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas is part of a nationwide effort by the American Bar Association to raise awareness among the general public that a call to Lawyer Referral will match an individual with an appropriate lawyer. Lawyers who are registered with the Lawyer Referral Service are in good standing with the State Bar of Texas, are required to carry malpractice insurance, and are considered qualified in their areas of practice.
The process is simple. A consumer can call the Lawyer Referral service at 512-472-8303 any time between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. A trained staff person will interview the caller to determine the nature of the legal problem and will then give him or her the name of a lawyer qualified to handle such a problem. An initial appointment can be set up during that phone call or the individual can call the lawyer directly. A moderate fee of $20.00 will be charged for the initial 30-minute consultation with the lawyer. No fee is charged for calling the referral service.
