Louie Mueller Barbecue
Located in Taylor, Louie Mueller Barbecue is an authentic Texas barbecue establishment that started in 1949. Louie handed over the business to his son Bobby and now his grandson, Wayne, carries on the tradition.
Part of the Central Texas BBQ Trail, Louie Mueller's is a barbecue aficionado's quintessential experience and is nationally renown as a jewel of authentic Texas barbecue. It has the look, it has the feel. From the high ceilings to the patina smoked walls soaked with the oak smoke drifting through the room. And then there is the food and the way it is served. It starts with slow cooking the hand-rubbed brisket in a pit and ends with the tradition of having your brisket, ribs sausage, sides and fixins served to you on a piece of paper. A process has not been changed since its beginnings.
Louie Mueller is one of a handful places that still remain. It is as authentic, as real, as small town, as you can get. It is difficult place to describe and something you just have to experience. If you're looking for either a nostalgia trip or some high quality barbecue, then you need to pay them a visit.
