Fridays With Uncle Fred 9/13/2013

Updated: Friday, September 13 2013, 08:58 AM CDT

Today on Fridays with Uncle Fred we started off on the scary side with a guest or two from House of Torment.  It’s back beginning today (Friday the 13th) at its usual haunt near the old Highland Mall.  For the full schedule and ticket information visit http://www.houseoftorment.com

We also gave you a heads up on an event that is nothing but fun.  It’s the Fun fun Fun Fest coming to Auditorium Shores, Nov. 8-10.  Single day tickets are now on sale.  Or for a little extra, there’s the Ultimate Smooth Pass.  Details at http://funfunfunfest.com

And finally we updated you on the hunt for “pink slime.”  That’s the nickname critics gave to Lean finely Textured Beef.  They just didn’t like the looks of it.  But armed with a clean bill of health from the USDA, the lean beef (or LFT) made by Beef Products, Inc. is reappearing in school lunchrooms… but apparently not here in Central Texas.  All the schools we polled said they were LFT-free.  We’re still waiting on a full list of Texas school districts serving LFT.  We’ll let you know when we get it.
