Oct. 12: Fridays With Uncle Fred

Updated: Monday, October 15 2012, 10:19 AM CDT
Friday we spent the morning chatting with David Lauderbeck, a history professor and debate expert from Austin Community College.

We talked about Thursday night's debate between Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan.  Overall, Lauderbeck liked this debate much more than the earlier debate between President Obama and Governor Romney.  The VP debate put the two contenders and the moderator face to around a small table.  That seemed to allow the debaters to connect better with each other.  Both men also tried to stay on the attack and often interrupted each other, Biden more than Ryan.  Biden did what he needed to do which was avoid any verbal gaffes.  And Ryan did what he needed to which was look presidential for someone a generation younger than Biden.

Drop by and join in the conversation next Friday 5-7am at the Taco Shack, 40th Street and North Lamar.
