1 Dead Of Flu In Williamson County

Updated:

One person in Williamson County has died from complications of the flu.

Scott & White Round Rock Hospital confirmed the death late Friday.

On Thursday St. David's HealthCare said eight people have died at its Travis County hospitals.

In Travis County, most of the flu cases are the 2009 H1N1 strain.  That virus killed hundreds of Texans nearly five years ago. Current flu shots protect against H1N1.

The flu is widespread in Travis County.  The Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services says about eight percent of the outpatient visits have been related to flu-like illnesses.

Flu information from the Williamson County & Cities Health District.
