Blood Center Needs Type O Donors

Updated:

The Blood Center of Central Texas says they are in desperate need for Type O blood donors.

A spokesperson for the blood center says the supply of Type O blood on the shelves is at a critical level.

They're asking all eligible donors with Type O blood to visit one of their donor centers or mobile blood drives as soon as possible.

Type O negative blood is especially needed because it is the universal type and used in emergencies.

To donate you must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 115 lbs for whole blood donation, bring a photo ID and be in generally good health. The process takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

To schedule an appointment, call The Blood Center of Central Texas at 512-206-1266 or visit their website at www.inyourhands.org to learn more.
