Chicken Noodle Soup Really Does Fight Illness

Well, it turns out mom was right, chicken noodle soup really might be the secret to fighting off colds and the flu.

You already know the veggies in it are good for you, and the steam that rises can clear your sinuses.

But internist Dr. Jay E. Rissover says the soup may even literally stop the movement of white blood cells in your body.

"White blood cells are the things that produce cytokynes, the inflammatory components things that make you teary, give you a runny nose, make you cough," says Dr. Rissover.

And of course, chicken noodle soup certainly beats the taste of cough medicine.
