Austin Ranks In Top 10 For Worst Thanksgiving Drives

Updated: Tuesday, November 20 2012, 07:52 AM CST
As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, 43 million people are expected to hit the roads.

The Weather Channel put together a list of the worst Thanksgiving drives across the country and it includes Austin. What’s the good news? We are not at the top.

In compiling the list, researchers looked at different criteria. The criteria included average delay per miles, the amount of wasted fuel and the cost of congestion in an average year.

The top five cities are Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Austin, specifically I-35.

Researchers jokingly call Austin “Texas Twister Traffic”. That’s because I-35 feeds into Downtown, the State Capitol and leads you right by the University of Texas.

Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth also made the list, ranking number 7 and 9.
