Austin Zoo Welcomes New Animals

Updated: Thursday, October 18 2012, 05:38 PM CDT
The Austin Zoo has new animals and attractions at its sanctuary.

The zoo is a non-profit dedicated to assisting animals through rescue, rehabilitation and education.

In 2012, zookeepers welcomed 12 animals. Everything from reptiles to toads to lambs and foxes.

These additions are a part of the 15 acres facility that compromises more than 300 animals.

Last year, over 175,000 people visited the zoo.

To keep afloat, the non-profit relays on private donations, gate admissions, grants and sponsorships to care for the animals.

Their annual fundraiser called "Boo at the Zoo" starts this weekend. For more information go to http://www.austinzoo.org
