Summer is just around the corner and the City of Austin is searching for lifeguards.

The Parks and Recreation Department's Aquatic Division hosts a lifeguarding fair today.  The city says it's looking to hire close to 500 more guards to keep watch over 50 city pools.

Computers and Aquatics staff will be on hand to help with online applications. Applicants need to bring an ID and social security card.

Parents should be present with teens under the age of 17. A parent's signature is required for anyone under the age of 18.

According to the city website, the fair begins at 5 p.m. and lasts through 8 p.m. this evening. Interested applicants should go to the Aquatics Department located at 400 Deep Eddy Avenue.
