Doctors' Advice For A Healthy New Year

Updated: Monday, December 31 2012, 10:32 AM CST

'Tis the season for making those new year’s resolutions, and some of them are going to sound awfully familiar to you: to be happier & healthier, to lose your temper less often, to try again this year to get into better physical shape, etc.

If you need some help to get started, a medical advice web site called Healthtap is offering free smart phone apps to help you keep your new year’s resolutions to live healthier.  And even though it says it's not intended to replace consulting an actual doctor, this web site features actual doctors.
CEO Ron Gutman says, “You can actually ask these doctors and get an answer for free.  It doesn't cost you anything to continue engaging in it throughout the year.”  Healthtap’s web site gives you a list of health-related resolutions to choose from.  Say you want to eat healthier.  Just one click and you get a list of Youtube videos from doctors giving you advice on monitoring what you eat, staying healthy and practicing preventive medicine.

Granted, this is all stuff we've heard before.  But hearing it from a doctor may give you kick start you need to actually take that advice and start the new year healthier.
