Family Business Updates Tradition of Home Sewing

Home sewing is so much more than needle and thread these days. 

We dropped in on Northwest Sewing Center on Burnet Rd. to see what's new.  This family operated business has been around for 60 years now.  And they've seen sewing machines advance from grandma's first electric machine to today's computer-assisted and even laser-guided models. 

Nowadays you can plan your sewing, embroidery or quilting on a computer or touch screen and the machine will take care of the grunt work.  All you have to do is switch out the spools of colored thread when prompted.  This technology also makes it easy to share your design with others by email or flash drive.
