Flying On Lake Travis

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 04:12 PM CDT

Aqua Fly Austin is bringing a completely new look to Lake Travis. They are exploring news ways for folks to enjoy the lake, with something called: A Flyboard.

"It’s amazing, there’s nothing like it," owner Bobby Vance says.

A professional jet ski racer named Frankie Zapata created the Flyboard in 2011. Since then, it’s been growing at an exponential rate and has now made it to the United States. People in California all the way out to the Eastern Seaboard have been exploring its new flying abilities.

The images shown may look a little bit intimidating but really all it takes is the ability to stand up, find your balance, and fly.

"It’s not that difficult. If you can stand up & chew gum, you can fly," he said.

Bobby Vance started this business in October 2011, but this will be his first summer showing folks in Austin how to fly off the lake.

"I found this adventure sport when I was traveling overseas with my daughter. After we tried it, we realized it was something we really enjoyed doing and thought it would be great to bring it to Austin. That way the folks of this city can enjoy it too," Vance said.

They have already begun taking reservations for the spring and summer months. You can find more information on their website, www.aquaflyaustin.com for more information.
