Thanks to Magnolia Cafe on south Congress Avenue for hosting us this week.  Here is some information on our guests:

Fill the Boot-- Lt. Greg Pope came to promote the Austin Firefighters Assocation's annual campaign to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Asssociation.   The firefighters will setup shop at many major intersections passing the boot instead of the hat to collect donations from drivers.   This year firefighters will be collecting money for MDA through Wedesday.

Cinco De Mayo--  It's tradition here in Austin that Cinco de Mayo be celebrated with food, family and festive music at Fiesta Gardens.  This year is no exception at the Fiestras Patrias civic organization raises funds for its charitable efforts in East Austin.  Marion Sanchez gave us the entertainment rundown and said to look for the Cinco de Mayo celebrations on both Saturday and Sunday.

Walh Face the Day-- Wahl-- the electric shaving people-- will be at the Pecan Street Festival looking for the best facial hair in Austin.  Spokesperson Justin Patricoff says the winner gets $500 and advances to the national competition.

Crockett High School-- It's always nice to share good news about our schools.  AISD's Crockett High School recently was recognized as a National Oustanding High School and the Texas Urban High School of the Year for 2011.  Principal Craig Shapiro says Crockett earned the awards though years of work to reduce dropout numbers and raise grades.
