'Helmet of Justice' Can Help Catch Hit, Run Drivers

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 04:13 PM CDT

Every day here in Austin a large number of bicyclists share the road with commuters. A hit and run accident involving a friend prompted Austin tech company Chaotic Moon to create a new product designed with cyclists in mind. It's called the "Helmet of Justice". KEYE TV's Ashley Miller spoke with the creators behind the helmet and found out it is not your average helmet. There are seven cameras pointing in various directions and upon impact they start recording. The recording can then be transferred to a computer with a USB. In the case of a hit and run you'll now have evidence of the car that hit you and the license plate number. The helmet is comfortable and Chaotic Moon engineers tell us it's as safe as any other helmet on the market. The "Helmet of Justice" is currently in the early stages of development. The next prototype will have a sensor that will warn you when a car is getting too close. Engineers tell us to expect to see it on the market in the near future. It currently costs $300 to make, but with mass production they expect the cost to go down. For more information on the innovative designs created by Chaotic Moon click on the link.
