Hubcap Annie Rolls On Despite Decline in Hubcaps

An Austin icon who built a business on selling replacement hubcaps is still in business, despite the fact that most cars no longer sport hubcaps.
Hubcap Annie went into business in Austin in 1980 as the suggestion of her sister who had instant success with a similar business in Memphis. Hubcap Annie has been in Austin ever since replacing just about any hubcap that a pot hole or other road hazard might pop loose from your car.
But, alas, hubcaps are no longer fashionable and most cars and trucks today sport fancy rims and no hubcaps. But if you can't beat them, join them. Hubcap Annie now also sells rims and is one of the few places in Austin that actually repairs them. So the family-owned business rolls on.
