Judge To Sentence Yazdi This Morning

Updated: Wednesday, November 20 2013, 06:00 AM CST
This morning, the fate of convicted murderer Fred Yazdi is in the hands of a Williamson County judge.

Yazdi is being sentenced for murder in last year's shooting death of Enrique Recio, who had stumbled into his yard after a late night accident in February 2012.

After a day full of emotional testimony, the judge says he'll make his decision Wednesday as to how long Yazdi will spend behind bars, anywhere between 5 to 99 years.

A jury found him guilty after rejecting his claim he was using the Castle Doctrine in defense. Now today, it's all in the hands of the judge, who listened to emotional testimony as both sides called witnesses and made closing arguments.

Enrique Recio, Sr. took the stand and several times broke down, as did members of his family.

The prosecution argues Yazdi should be kept off the streets, while the defense read letters from neighbors defending Yazdi.

The sentencing starts at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
