Lemonade Day Austin Empowering Tomorrow's Entrepreneurs

Updated: Friday, May 2 2014, 07:51 AM CDT

Central Texas kids are learning how to start, own and operate their own business. They'll do it with a lemonade stand.

On May 4th, 1,600 local children will participate in Lemonade Day Austin. Each child who registers receives a backpack in the mail, complete with an Entrepreneur Workbook that teaches them lessons on running their own business.

Kids are encouraged to create budgets, set profit goals, get investors, and even donate some of their profits. Participants have the option of keeping of all of their profits.

Lucy Sugawa and Katherine Raymond are two young entrepreneurs that were featured on KEYE TV Morning News. They're just 10 years old and have been running their own lemonade stand, Yummingbird Lemonade, for 5 years now. This year they plant to donate their profits to the Autobahn Society.

You can support Lucy and Katherine, plus thousands of other children, by quenching your thirst with some lemonade. Click here for a map of participating lemonade stands.
