Lucky Dog Rescued On Mount Hood

Updated: Tuesday, July 24 2012, 09:52 AM CDT
A man risked his life to save man’s best friend and it led to a dramatic rescue.

Rescue crews were able to rescue both man and dog after they fell into a canyon on Oregon’s Mount Hood.

Alan Rosenfeld was walking with his dog on a trail when his buddy fell. Alan tried to rescue him, but got himself into trouble.

"The dog took a wrong turn in the trail, part of an old trail that's washed out. Halfway down the trail to Big Zig Zag Canyon and apparently he enthusiastically bounded over the edge. So when I came down the trail he wasn't there, so I called and called and I heard him crying and unfortunately he couldn't get up from where he was. He kept sliding down was panicking."

A witness called 911 and rescuers were able to hoist them up and escort them to a lodge.Lucky Dog Rescued On Mount Hood
