New Report: FBI's Most Dangerous Cities

The FBI has just released its annual report of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. Austinites can breathe a sign of relief, our beloved city did not make the list.

When putting the list together, the FBI compared cities of 75,000 residents or more and these were the worst offenders.

1. Camden, New Jersey took the number one spot. City researchers say its plagued by homelessness, drugs and poverty.

2. Flint, Michigan, the birthplace of General Motors came in second. A decline in manufacturing jobs in the cash strapped city and police officer layoffs are named as a few factors for its high spot on the list.

3.Detroit, Michigan

4. Oakland California

5. St. Louis Missouri

6. Cleveland Ohio

7. Gary Indiana

8. Newark New Jersey

9. Bridgeport Connecticut

10. Birmingham Alabama.

This is one list Austin is proud to not be a part of, however we did rank 4th on the list of cities with the lowest crime rates in the country.
