Overnight Shooting Critically Injures Man In Southeast Austin

Updated: Monday, February 3 2014, 06:50 AM CST
New overnight, a shooting in southeast Austin critically injures one man. Now police are looking for two men they say may be involved.

It happened at the Village at Riverside Apartments on Crossing Place near Riverside Drive. As of 5 a.m., police had not made any arrests. An APD lieutenant tells us the victim is in critical condition and undergoing surgery.

Crime scene units and detectives spent hours combing over the scene trying to figure out what happened at the complex.

While there are still several unanswered questions, here’s what police told KEYE-TV: a lieutenant says around 1:15 a.m. people nearby heard gunshots and called police.

When APD officers got to the complex, they found a man in his early 20s with gunshot wounds.

We’re told that man was taken to Brackenridge, while it’s believed the men involved took off on foot.

Right now, police don’t have much to go on, and they say the victim gave little assistance, not even a vague description of the person or people involved.

“He was kind of evasive about what was going on,” said Lt. Cara Boyd of APD. “That’s why we don’t feel like this was random or anything or that the public is in danger.”

It’s unclear at this time if the complex had any cameras that may have caught the shooting on surveillance. Police found a weapon on-scene but wouldn’t comment on what it was.Overnight Shooting Critically Injures Man In Southeast Austin
