Summer a Bummer in Texas Heat? Keep Cool at Chaparral Ice

Updated: Wednesday, July 23 2014, 09:41 AM CDT

Fun, inexpensive ways to beat the heat during the hot, Texas summer months

KEYE TV meteorologist Allison Miller says this week is going to be a scorcher. Today alone will feel like 104 degrees. But it’s summertime! And we don’t want to be stuck inside. So KEYE TV's Ashley Roberts looked into ways to keep cool and decided to cut the temperature in half at Chaparral Ice with a little ice skating this morning.

The skating rink offers free, one-time classes including an into skating and hockey class. You can find the details right here. There are also two summer camps available: Camp Avalance for ages 7-14 and Camp Des Champs for ages 6-14.

And get into character! There's an upcoming themed party on Friday, August 15th from 6:30-9:30 pm in celebration of Shark Week. Costumes are encouraged at this family-friendly event. Cost is $5-10.

Public skating is offered every day. Admission and skate rental will run you about $10.
