Tornado Tragedy Prompts All Kinds Of Giving

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 04:12 PM CDT

All kinds of people across America are doing what they can to help the tornado victims in Oklahoma.  Grabbing all the headlines is country singer Blake Shelton whose nationally broadcast concert raised six million dollars for tornado relief.  The money will help the victims of the powerful tornado that tore through the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore killing 24 people.

The American Red Cross was there almost immediately giving aid to the people who lost their homes.  The suffering in moving all kinds of people to do what they can to help.  Former Aggie golfer Conrad Shindler is not a big name in the pro golf world yet.  But he is celebrating his first win as a pro by signing over the entire $15,000 prize money to an Oklahoma tornado relief fund.  Talk show host Glenn Beck's Mercury One Foundation has given $720,000.  That money went directly to five sheriff's deputies who lost their homes in the Moore tornado.  And Oklahoma Governor Mary Lallin is looking to the future and is working with the United Way of Central Oklahoma to establish a fund to assist with the long-term needs of victims devastated by the may tornados.
