Virtual Groceries Developing Overseas

Updated: Thursday, October 18 2012, 05:42 PM CDT
Imagine walking into an HEB or Whole Foods with no-products....just pictures of groceries with QR codes that you scan with a smartphone to buy.  After you complete scanning your items, there is no standing in line.  You leave and all the groceries are delivered right to your doorstep.  This is the concept being launched by e-commerce giant Yihaodian at 1000 different supermarkets around China.  Yiahaodian is Walmart-owned and has dabbled in the virtual shopping experience before by sticking up posters of goods at subway stations and bus stops.  UK retailer Tesco has also tried out the concept at London's Gatwick Airport.
