Yazdi Sentencing Begins This Morning

Updated: Thursday, October 24 2013, 06:31 AM CDT
Emotional reaction after a jury convicts Fred Yazdi of murder. Now this morning, a judge will decide just how much time he'll spend behind bars.

After 20 hours of deliberating and nearly two years of waiting, family and friends of victim Enrique Recio III, who was shot and killed by Yazdi in Feburary 2012 outside Yazdi's home, hugged and sobbed as the judge read the guilty verdict.

A friend of Recio told KEYETV it was a moment of relief. Shortly after the verdict, Yazdi stood showing no emotion.

The sentencing phase starts at 9 a.m. Thursday in Williamson County. The court can hear from witnesses.

As far as how much time Yazdi could spend behind bars, in Texas, a first degree felony typically carries a punishment between 5-99 years behind bars
