Austin Reelects Mayor, 3 Council Members

Austin voters reelected Mayor Lee Leffingwell and all three incumbent city council members Saturday.

With 91 percent of the precincts reporting, Leffingwell received 52 percent of the vote. Former Austin city council member Brigid Shea had 37 percent.  Clay DaFoe received 11 percent.

In the Austin City Council Place 2 race, incumbent Mike Martinez led with 56 percent.  Challenger Laura Pressley has 44 percent. 

In Place 5 incumbent Bill Spelman avoided a runoff despite having six opponents.  He received 59 percent of the vote.  His closest opponent, Dominic 'Dom' Chavez, had 19 percent.

Incumbent Sheryl Cole dominated her challenger Shaun Ireland in Place 6 -- 71 to 29 percent.
