Pilot Who Crashed Ultra Light Plane At Lago Vista Airport

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 04:15 PM CDT

A pilot was not hurt when his ultra-light plane crash into a tree at the Lago Vista airport.

It happened at approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday.

The pilot, 62-year-old John Rudd, tells KEYE TV’s Bettie Cross that he was about 20 to 30 feet off the ground when a gust of wind hit the plane.  It dropped about 10 feet and hit the top of the tree.

Rudd climbed down from the tree and was not hurt.

Rudd said he has been flying for three years and that this is third accident.
