Video Released Of Teen Injured In Bastrop Co. Tasing Incident

Updated: Wednesday, January 29 2014, 02:16 PM CST

The attorney of a teen that suffered a severe brain injury after being tased by a Bastop County sheriff's deputy at Cedar Creek High School has released surveillance video of the incident.

Attorney Adam Loewy released the video Wednesday showing the deputy tasing Noe Nino de Rivera.

Rivera spent 52 days in a medically induced coma. He was briefly released from the hospital, but returned again after suffering complications.

The incident happened last year on Nov. 20. The Bastrop County Sheriff's Department says two deputies tried to break up a fight between two girls and that's when they say Rivera began acting aggressively, leading a deputy to tase him.

That's when Rivera fell to the ground and hit his head.

But Loewy says the video tells a much different story. He says the video speaks for itself and shows Rivera was not being aggressive. Instead he believes Rivera was brutally attacked by a police officer.

Rivera's family has filed a federal civil lawsuit against the school district, the county, and the deputy involved.
